Buyer's Guide: Voice Recorders for Classroom Lectures
Wed, 11 Mar 2009
Planning to record your classroom lectures? Here are the specific features to look for:
- Microphone Sensitivity - Unfortunately, the built-in microphones on many inexpensive audio recorders are only meant for voices a few feet away from the device. But you may not always have the luxury of putting your recorder anywhere near the front row in a lecture hall. Or, the front row may be a long way from where the teacher is standing. You'll definitely want a recorder with a sensitive microphone.
- (Optional) Bookmarking - Some recorders have a Bookmarking feature that lets you instantly come back to a particular spot in the middle of a recording. This can be particularly helpful when your instructor says things like, "This question WILL be on the test!"
Also, check out the Buyer's Guide for Voice Recorders for general recommendations and qualities to look for, regardless of the recording purpose.
